Information Science and Technology (A.S.)

Do you enjoy solving problems, perhaps solving those problems with technology?  You can put those interests to work with the Associate Degree in Information Science and Technology offered at Penn State Greater Allegheny. 

This degree will prepare you for new or continuing employment opportunities in the information technology sector.  In Southwestern Pennsylvania, the employment outlook is expected to increase by 10% through 2024, with 6,430 projected new employment openings.

Students take courses in programming, data organization, networking & telecommunications, system analysis and design.  Under the guidance of an industry mentor, an internship in your final semester will allow you to apply what you have learned in class to a work setting.

Our Career Services Office will help you write and customize cover letters and resumes that could help you land your first job, or begin a new career opportunity. 

The Associate Degree in Information Science and Technology gives you two options to pursue:

Baccalaureate Option

This option aligns most closely with our four year degree in Information Science and Technology.  It is the perfect option if you are considering going on for a four year degree after you graduate from the Associate Degree program.

Individualized Option

You will work closely with your academic adviser to select courses which meet degree requirements and give you an area of specialization. 

No matter which option you select, when you graduate you will have the Penn State name on your degree, a degree highly regarded and recognized around the world!
