New Student Orientation Overview

New Student Orientation Overview

WE ARE excited to have you join the Penn State Greater Allegheny family! Everyone has been hard at work to make your Orientation experience enjoyable.

New Student Orientation (NSO) is a three-day experience for first-year students.

Step One: Academic Advising

Once you have completed your Educational Planning Survey and ALEKS Math Placement Assessment, you will be able to make your reservation to attend NSO this summer beginning in May 2017. On the date of your choice, you will meet with an academic adviser to schedule your Fall 2017 courses--your first semester!

Step Two: Orientation, Too!

A day-long session dedicated to bringing you together with other new students to kick off your journey as Penn Staters. The Orientation, Too program, which is required, will allow you to meet faculty, staff, and other students; learn about campus life; and prepare for the academic challenges and resources that lie ahead.

Step Three: Academic Convocation

The last step in New Student Orientation for Fall 2017. Academic Convocation formally welcomes you to Penn State University and the Greater Allegheny campus. During the convocation, new students and families will have the opportunity to meet faculty and students in their academic programs, and ask questions to our campus experts.
