High School Dual Enrollment Program

High School Dual Enrollment Program

The Penn State Greater Allegheny High School Dual Enrollment Program offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take college courses and receive a 50 percent tuition reduction. Dual Enrollment enables students to get a real jump on their college careers by earning college credits while still in high school. Students participating in this program may choose from a variety of Penn State courses.

Getting Started

High school juniors or seniors may apply for the program. *For consideration, send the following to Victoria Garwood, Penn State Greater Allegheny Admissions, Frable 123, 4000 University Drive, McKeesport, PA 15132 or fax all documents to 412-675-9056:

You will be notified of the admissions decision by letter. Those accepted will work with an academic adviser to enroll in a course approved for dual enrolled students.

The tuition reduction is available for a maximum of eight credits per semester. You may not take more than eight credits per semester unless special permission is granted. Students enrolled in a school district with grants or other funding may be eligible for additional funding to offset some or all of the remaining cost. Student technology and facility fees will be charged on a per-credit basis.

As long as you maintain a "C" or better in each course you complete, the tuition reduction is applied for a maximum of eight credits per semester over the course of four semesters: beginning with the fall semester of your high school junior year through the spring semester of your high school senior year. The summer session between your junior and senior year also applies.

Credits earned under the provisions of the program are valid across Penn State University and may be transferred to any other institution that will accept them.
