Our NSO programming is designed to provide you with all the information and resources you need for a smooth transition into college life. From meeting faculty and staff to exploring academic opportunities and campus resources, NSO ensures you start your Penn State journey on the right foot. We are excited to welcome you and support your success from day one!
Check-In
8:00 a.m. | Student Community Center Lower Level
- Students will pick up their iPads, financial aid documents, and health services information, and set up the Delegated Access/Authorized Payer process. Once completed, students and their support person(s) may head to the Ostermayer Room for coffee, first-day photos, and our morning introduction video presentation.
Welcome to New Student Orientation!
8:45 a.m. | Ostermayer Room, Student Community Center Upper Level
- Students and their support person(s) will attend an introduction presentation for the day presented by our NSO staff. They will also receive a welcome from Penn State University President Dr. Neeli Bendapudi and our Regional Chancellor Dr. Megan L. Nagel.
Introduction to ACE and the Learning Center

Students and their support person(s) will be introduced to the resources and staff of our Center for Academic and Career Excellence (ACE) and the John H. Gruskin Learning Center.
Students - ALEKS Testing | Support Person(s) - Your Student's Success at Penn State
9:35 a.m. | Students - Frable Building 219 | Support Person(s) - Frable Building 122
- Students will begin their ALEKS Math Placement exams to determine the appropriate math course for their upcoming advising appointments. While students are testing, their support person(s) will attend a workshop focused on supporting student success at Penn State.
Students - Advising Preparation Session and Digital Fluency Workshop
10:45 a.m. | Crawford Building 102
- After completing the ALEKS Math Placement exams, students will prepare for their academic advising sessions by removing any holds in LionPATH and exploring their iPads. They will set up essential resources such as PSUAlert, Penn State Go, and more to ensure a successful semester.
The Business of Being a Student
11:15 a.m. | Crawford Building 102
- Support persons will rejoin their students to attend a presentation discussing the business of being a student, featuring tuition and student aid staff along with our Campus Bursar.
Academic Advising Appointments and Lunch
11:45 a.m. & 12:45 p.m. | Crawford Building 104 or Café Metro

12:45 p.m. | Group B students will attend their academic advising appointment in Crawford Building 104, while Group B support persons will attend an in-depth Financial Aid presentation with tuition and student aid staff, as well as our Campus Bursar in Crawford Building 102. | Group A Students and Group A Support Persons will head over to Café Metro in the Student Community Center for lunch. |
Once all sessions have concluded, students and their support person(s) may take a tour of campus with our Admissions staff, take photos by our Lion Shrine statue, and don't forget to tag us in your photos @pennstatega on social media!
Student-Athlete Welcome
2:00 p.m. | Ostermayer Room, Student Community Center Upper Level
- Student-athletes and their support person(s) will attend an introduction to campus athletics presentation led by Director of Athletics, Jason Broadwater.
