Verónica Montecinos, professor of sociology at Penn State Greater Allegheny, has published a new book titled  “Women Presidents and Prime Ministers in Post-Transition Democracies,” which analyzes the cultural, institutional and policy dimensions of the ascent of women to executive power.

Professor publishes book on women in executive office

Professor of Sociology Verónica Montecinos’s edited volume of “Women Presidents and Prime Ministers in Post-Transition Democracies” analyzes the cultural, institutional and policy dimensions of the ascent of women to executive power. The book includes several theoretical chapters and eight country studies in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, and Latin America.

Repurposing to make a difference

As part of new campus initiatives to combat clothing and food insecurities in the Pittsburgh region, Greater Allegheny campus has opened Free Store 15132 to provide community members with necessities at no cost. The store will be managed by students through volunteer work, providing them with valuable real-world experiences.
