The Penn State Greater Allegheny Lion Ambassadors are the student extension of the Office of Enrollment Management. Equipped with an expansive knowledge of campus, and an unbridled passion for Penn State, Lion Ambassadors provide prospective families and guests with a welcoming environment and dynamic campus tours. Lion Ambassadors also make calls to students throughout the admissions cycle and participate in many recruitment programs.
Emily Taylor is a senior Corporate Communications major also earning a certificate in Sports Administration. She is a member of the Women’s Volleyball Team, Blue and White Society, THON, and President of Lion Ambassadors. Emily also participates in the Penn State Greater Allegheny Honors Program. In her free time, she enjoys watching Netflix, playing volleyball with her friends, and being outdoors.
Chris Smith is a sophomore Broadcast Meteorology major from Yorktown, VA. When he is not in his room at the residence hall, he is partaking in the clubs and activities on campus such as THON, CAB, Blue and White Society, Student Government Association, and Lion Ambassadors. He chose PSUGA because he wanted a small college experience to prepare for his transition to a larger campus and he has family in the area.
Tra-Esha Carswell is a senior Business major with a focus on Accounting. Tra graduated from Steel Valley High School and is a resident of Homestead, PA. She plays on the Women’s Basketball team and is a member of Lion Ambassadors. Tra has also worked in the Admissions office as a work-study student and provided support to the Enrollment Management team.
Robert Kemp is a sophomore Criminal Justice major and Biobehavioral Health minor from Vernal, UT. He is a member of THON, LGBTQA Club, and Lion Ambassadors. Robert chose Penn State Greater Allegheny for its proximity to Pittsburgh, the intimate campus community, and the one-on-one attention from our faculty.
Brittany Lesko is a senior Letter, Arts, and Science major who was born in Pennsylvania but now resides in Arroyo Grande, CA. Brittany serves as the President of Blue and White Society, family relations chair for THON, Student Government Association, and a four-year veteran of Lion Ambassadors. She is currently in her third year of being a Resident Assistant in McKeesport Hall. Brittany proudly wears Blue and White every day and loves Penn State.
Brian Alvino is a sophomore Biobehavioral Health major from Hialeah Gardens, FL. He is the Vice President of the Student Government Association, event coordinator of THON, and a member of the Blue and White Society, Lion Ambassadors, and Campus Activities Board. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar, spending time with friends, and playing volleyball.
Courtney Shadd is a sophomore from Chicago, IL. A graduate of Bartlett High School, Courtney is majoring in International Politics. She plays on the Volleyball and Softball teams and is a member of THON, Lion Ambassadors, and the Black Student Union. Courtney chose Penn State Greater Allegheny, “because it’s a great school with great academics, athletics, and an alumni network.” Courtney continues to say that she felt at home from the moment she visited campus.
Ryan Detman is a sophomore Management Information Systems major. He is the current President of the Fitness Club, marketing chairperson for THON, and a Lion Ambassador. Ryan chose PSUGA because of the sense of community, the positive and strong student-teacher relationships, and first-class academics. Ryan is proud to be a Penn Stater.
Jensen Linderman is a sophomore studying Early Childhood Education and Adolescents from Greensburg, Pennsylvania. She previously attended Greensburg Salem School District. Jensen chose to come to Penn State Greater Allegheny because of the small campus feel and a strong sense of community. She is active in several clubs and organizations on campus such as: Lion Ambassadors, Campus Activities Board, PEPP, THON, and serves as the Secretary for the Residence Hall Council, and a senator in the Student Government Association.
Marcos Lopez is a sophomore Animal Science major from Gurabo, Puerto Rico. He is a graduate of Ramey High School and is a pitcher on the Men’s Baseball team. Marcos is also involved with Lion Ambassadors and THON. His favorite aspect of Penn State is the family atmosphere and the help that support from the faculty, staff, and student body.
Ryan Beveridge is a sophomore studying Mechanical Engineering from Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. Ryan chose to come to Penn State Greater Allegheny because of the small campus atmosphere and more individualized academic experience. He is a member of the Student Government Association, Campus Activities Board, THON, Lion Ambassadors, and is a floor representative for the Residence Hall Council.
My name is Gabriela, but everyone knows me as Gaby. I am an international student from Brazil, but graduated from Owen-Withee High School in Wisconsin. I play soccer, am part of THON, and the Vice -President of the Lion Ambassadors. I also work at the IT desk on campus. I am a sophomore majoring in Business Management and I will transition to University Park next year via the 2+2 plan.
