Serving Our Region Since 1934

Penn State first offered technical courses in McKeesport and Pittsburgh in 1934. Since that time, our training and degree program delivery has moved from a Victorian mansion in Dravosburg to our current 52 acre campus, located next to a 205 acre park. Penn State Greater Allegheny ranks in the top 12% nationally in 40 year earnings according to a Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce report.

Our Alumni Are Everywhere

Over 30,000 Penn State graduates live in Allegheny County, and 5,600 of those attended our campus!  Penn State McKeesport/Greater Allegheny alumni currently live in 48 of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.  Some live over seas and serve in the military.

A Hub of Collaboration and Innovation

Penn State Greater Allegheny, the City of McKeesport and the University's Invent Penn State program engage the community, entrepreneurs and students to encourage economic development in the Mon Valley. The Mon Valley LaunchBox, located at 225 5th Avenue in downtown McKeesport, is a place where community members receive assistance to develop ideas into businesses.

Nationally and Internationally Recognized Faculty

Our faculty are engaged in research on local, regional, and global issues.  They are recognized for their work in a number of areas. Some include work that blends art and science, examines the history of the FBI, and studies trauma in international films. Faculty members have served as Fulbright Scholars, and have been honored with Penn State's George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching.
