Siobhan Brooks

Located on the lower level of the J. Clarence Kelly Library, the John H. Gruskin Learning Center offers many services and programs from academic counseling, workshops to improve note taking and memory and concentration, and employment as a peer tutor.

Ms. Brooks has worked on the campus for more than 14 years.  In her own words, learn her “why”.  Why you should visit her center and why she does what she does.

“When incoming students transition from High School to higher education, they experience a culture shock. They are no longer under the constant care of their parents/ guardians and often have very little understanding of the atmosphere, study habits, and the wholehearted engagement needed to be a successful student at the University. I encourage students to take advantage of the services we provide and further assist them to develop the necessary skills to be successful as they pursue their degrees.

I am a punctilious individual who embraces diversity of all, I welcome both new and recurring students to visit and gain understanding of all that's offered both in the Learning center and the campus."

Chip Roberts

From your first day at Greater Allegheny through your move to another campus or your graduation, Chip Roberts is making things happen for you! Serving as our campus registrar, Chip is responsible for the schedule of courses, registration, enrollment verification, athletic eligibility and more. Visit him in Frable Building 113!

"As a first-generation student myself, navigating college was no easy task. My role as the Registrar allows me to guide students as they first register for classes at New Student Orientation to lining those same students up to walk across the stage at graduation. I’m fortunate to be in a role that allows me to participate in the full journey. Working in higher ed. now for over 20 years, I’ve been privileged to serve at large campuses, and small campuses and everything in between, but at GA – I really get to know our students and who they are, beyond their grades or classes. It’s because of that sense of community and building relationships that lasts beyond just receiving the diploma, are the reason I do what I do at GA."

Rosemary Martinelli

Since arriving to Greater Allegheny more than five years ago, Professor Martinelli has assembled what she refers to as a "listicle" of roles.

Teaching is at the top of the list, and she found that real-life learning needed to be woven into each course. From that philosophy, and from discussions and planning with students, she developed The GA-Zette newspaper and "Be Greater Creative" PR and marketing services agency for the local community. Now serving as the internship program coordinator, she is using her vast network of contacts to connect students to real-life learning beyond the classroom while I am helping them on pathways to their new-found careers.

“ Long ago I learned that just having a job and performing that job is good, but that it brings with it special responsibilities outside of the office (or the classroom, as the case might be here at Greater Allegheny!) Throughout my career in the media and in Corporate America, people took the time to talk with me, to work with me and to meet with me on their personal time to help guide me in my career and to address questions when I had them. Maybe you could consider my service work here on campus my way of "giving back" to the community and to the campus."

Now also serving as the internship program coordinator, she is using her vast network of contacts to connect students to real-life learning beyond the classroom while helping them on pathways to their new-found careers. Make some time to meet Professor Martinelli. Your future self will thank you!
