Overview

Welcome to Penn State Greater Allegheny! We're excited to help you begin your Penn State journey with our in-person New Student Orientation (NSO). This comprehensive daylong event will feature engagements with Student Orientation Leaders, PSUGA staff, and our Academic Advising Team to ensure a smooth transition to college life.

NSO Reservations

Reservations for NSO open in early April. When booking, select a date that allows you and a member of your personal support circle to spend the day with us on our beautiful campus. During NSO, you’ll participate in breakout sessions with students, tour the campus, meet with an academic advisor, create an academic schedule, and more.

You can also reserve spots for your support circle members to participate in NSO through our reservation system. Concurrent programming options will be available for family members to ensure they receive essential orientation information. Be sure to add them as your guest(s) to keep them informed.
 

Time Commitment

Expect to spend approximately 4 hours in person with us on your selected orientation date.

NSO Activities

During NSO, you will experience:

  • A University welcome from our Regional Chancellor, University President, and NSO Staff
  • A panel of current Penn State Greater Allegheny students
  • An introduction to our campus-wide Digital Fluency Project
  • A session for support persons on financial aid
  • A one-on-one academic advising appointment

Welcome Conference

Welcome Conference, presented by New Student Orientation (NSO), is a mandatory, day-long event designed to introduce you to the Penn State community and kick off your college experience. This engaging session will connect you with fellow new students, faculty, and staff, and provide valuable insights into campus life and academic resources. The day includes the Welcome Convocation, a formal ceremony to celebrate your arrival at Penn State and Penn State Greater Allegheny.
