Teaching International speaker on contributions of Irish- and African-Americans

On Tuesday Oct 9 during common period Dr. Bernard Hegarty will be speaking on "From Dublin and the Delta: How Irish-Americans and African-Americans Built Our Country

Dr. Hegerty received his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, where he is a Senior Lecturer in the History Department. He is a British and Modern European historian by profession, and he teaches a course on The Irish in America. He has done research in Ireland, and he will be teaching there this summer. Dr. Hagerty's current writing projects are on democracy and public opinion in Europe and the United States. He has been known, on occasion, to play and sing both the blues and Irish music.
