STEM Summer Bridge: a program for entering first year students

Incoming freshman will have an opportunity to hone their academic skills in engineering, mathematics, English composition, and physics.  The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program begins at Penn State Greater Allegheny on July 30, and runs through August 23.  Openings are available to students who apply to the program by submitting essays about their academic and career goals and describing how participation in the program will benefit them.  During the four-week session, students stay on campus to experience firsthand the academic and social aspects of a Penn State education.

The cost of room and board, field trips, text books, extracurricular activities and faculty instruction was defrayed by two generous grants.  The largest grant was received from the Pittsburgh-based EQT Foundation; the second was received from the National Science Foundation.
