The UPMC Mobile Dental Center will be visiting the Penn State Greater Allegheny campus monthly to serve students’ needs.

The initial examination and cleaning is at no cost to the student. If the student needs additional dental procedures and does not have insurance, the student and the UPMC Mobile Dental Center staff will work together to make financial arrangements. If the student does have dental insurance, the insurance will be billed.

The first visits to the campus will be on Oct. 11 and Nov. 8. The dentist will be able to see approximately eight students per day.

“Part of our job in the Student Affairs office is to promote the physical and mental well-being of our students through health education, preventative health strategies, and quality health care,” said Director of Student Affairs Glenn Beech. “The dental van is an easy and inexpensive way for students to receive quality care while away from home.”

The van is a part of UPMC Presbyterian/Shadyside. According to their website, the van is staffed by a general dentist and a dental assistant.  Dental services include complete and partial dentures, crowns, dental cleanings, fillings, preventive care and tooth extractions.

To sign up to visit the Dental Center, students should visit the Office of Student Affairs in the Student Community Center.
