Greater Allegheny welcomes students for fall semester

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Penn State campuses are bustling as students arrive to begin the fall 2018 semester.

Greater Allegheny welcomed 164 incoming students the morning of Aug. 17 during Academic Convocation. The event celebrates and kicks off the campus’s Welcome Week. The activity-filled week helps foster relationships between students and campus employees.

“We are very excited to have students here at Greater Allegheny, on campus, and engaging them outside of the classroom,” said Director of Student Services and Engagement Lorraine Craven. “It is very important for our students to have a sense of belonging, and feel like they are part of something better so they can be greater.”

Upperclassmen will return to Greater Allegheny’s 52-acre campus on Sunday and Monday, Aug. 19 and 20.

Many students have called the McKeesport-based campus home for several decades. Since 1969, groups of students from near and far have lived in the on-campus residence hall (McKeesport Hall); even more students have commuted.

Students have access to free parking in any one of the campus’ six parking lots and have access to Pittsburgh’s Port Authority bus system, via the 56 line.

Please join us in welcoming our students to campus.
