Campus partners with Silk Screen Asian-American Film Festival

Greater Allegheny Director of Academic Affairs Margaret Signorella said, ?We are proud to partner with this unique organization. We encourage our students and faculty to foster a promotion of greater awareness and understanding of world issues and international trends. The Silkscreen festival is a great way to celebrate diversity and helps students to develop an appreciation of different cultures.?

According to their website, Silk Screen was created in June 2005, with the goals of including educating communities about Asian and Asian American history, culture, experiences, and issues, fostering understanding across lines of race, ethnicity, religion, age, and region, and sustaining growth and encouraging excellence in Asian American culture.

Some of this year's films include "Asura" from Japan, "Nightmare" from China, "Present Tense" from Turkey, and many more.
