#TextbookAffordabilityPledge

The Penn State Greater Allegheny Textbook Affordability Committee is committed to making meaningful and sustainable change in promoting affordable and equitable access to required course materials for all PSUGA students.

We believe being visible in our commitment, and thus accountable for addressing this issue, will be fundamental to encouraging collaborative and continuous efforts to address textbook affordability and the impacts it has on our students.

In order to achieve this, beginning August 19th, 2022, we ask those who share our values and commitment, and wish to be held accountable to this mission, to make the following pledge, and invite others in the campus community to join us in this crucial effort #TextbookAffordabilityPledge

If you’ve already reduced the costs of materials for your courses to no or little expense, thank you! Please commit to continue these efforts and share your successful strategies by taking the pledge below!

I am joining The Penn State Greater Allegheny Textbook Affordability Committee in pledging to make a difference addressing textbook affordability and the impacts it has on our students.

I promise to research affordable textbook options – to educate myself on free and open-source materials, and do everything in my power to reduce the cost to my students.

I promise not to turn away from the impact these costs have on their educational journey.

I promise to do my part. Affordability is an educational community concern, and I will seek to not only understand my role and areas of influence but will take action to support that goal.
