Celebrate Our Faculty and Staff

Celebrate the achievements of Penn State Greater Allegheny faculty and staff by submitting a nomination for one of seven annual awards! These awards honor individuals who make a lasting impact on student success and campus life. Each winner will receive a small honorarium and be celebrated at All Campus Day in August!

Faculty Scholar Award
The Penn State Greater Allegheny Faculty Scholar Award is bestowed annually to a full or part-time faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in research, scholarship, and/or creative accomplishments. Nominate any full or part-time faculty member who has completed two years or more (at least four semesters) of continuous undergraduate teaching at Penn State Greater Allegheny, including this semester.
Describe the nominee’s research, scholarship, and creative initiatives, how they are linked to a discipline, and how the work may promote undergraduate research. Highlight any other qualities that you believe make this nominee a worthy candidate, such as the individual's ability to add to the creation of new knowledge, to mentor/advise students in regard to research projects, and to promote disciplinary or interdisciplinary exploration.
Faculty Teaching Award
The Penn State Greater Allegheny Teaching Award is bestowed annually to a full or part-time faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in instruction. Nominate any full or part-time faculty member who has completed two years or more (at least four semesters) of continuous undergraduate teaching at Penn State Greater Allegheny, including this semester.
Describe the nominee's qualities, accomplishments and/or efforts that make her/him/them a worthy candidate for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Faculty Teaching Award, and how the nominee encourages critical, creative and independent thinking, motivates students to learn, and uses effective teaching methods in the classroom. Highlight any other qualities that you believe make this nominee a worthy candidate for the award, such as the individual's ability to effectively supervise, mentor or advise students on research projects, course requirements, graduate school and/or career.
Excellence in Advising Award
This annual award honors a faculty or staff academic advisor who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to student success. Recipients support students in achieving their academic goals, foster intellectual curiosity, and encourage engagement in both curricular and co-curricular opportunities. Through their guidance, they empower students to become independent leaders and confident decision makers.
Describe the nominee's qualities, accomplishments and/or efforts that make her/him/them a worthy candidate for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Excellence in Advising Award.
Describe the nominee's qualities, accomplishments and/or efforts that make her/him a worthy candidate for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Award for Excellence in Advising Award, and how the nominee helps students achieve their academic goals, promote intellectual discovery, and encourages students to take advantage of both in and out of class educational opportunities in order that they become self-directed leaders and decision makers.
Excellence in Community Engagement Award
This award is bestowed annually to a Penn State Greater Allegheny employee who has made a difference in the communities in the region, especially as it relates to connecting with underserved and economically and socially marginalized members of their communities.
Describe how the nominee has made a difference in the communities in the region, especially as it relates to connecting with underserved and economically and socially marginalized members of their communities. Highlight any other qualities that you believe make this nominee a worthy candidate for the award.
Staff Excellence Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a Penn State Greater Allegheny staff member, full- or part-time, who demonstrates integrity, respect, and excellence in all aspects of their position. Candidates being nominated for the Staff Excellence Award should exemplify the University values through their professionalism, commitment to their work, and contributions to the campus community.

The nomination narrative should feature specific examples that:

  • Illustrate how the individual demonstrates these values

  • Describe the impact of their excellence on colleagues, students, or the broader Penn State Greater Allegheny community.

 

Describe the nominee’s qualities, accomplishments, and/or efforts that make them a worthy candidate for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Staff Excellence Award. Please include specific examples of how the nominee demonstrates integrity, respect, and excellence in their role and the impact of their contributions.
Staff Morale Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a Penn State Greater Allegheny staff member, full- or part-time, who demonstrates enthusiasm and optimism in creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive work environment for others. Candidates being nominated for the Staff Morale Award should exemplify the University values through their encouragement of colleagues, commitment to collaboration, and efforts to strengthen the campus community.

The nomination narrative should feature specific examples that:

  • Illustrate how the individual demonstrates these values, and

  • Describe the impact of their actions in fostering a positive and supportive environment for others.

Describe the nominee’s qualities, accomplishments, and/or efforts that make them a worthy candidate for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Staff Morale Award. Please include specific examples of how the nominee contributes to a positive workplace culture and supports colleagues across the campus community.
Staff Leadership Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a Penn State Greater Allegheny staff member, full- or part-time, who demonstrates excellence in leadership and serves as a positive role model for others. Candidates being nominated for the Staff Leadership Award should exemplify the University values through their ability to support, guide, and positively influence others while contributing to the success of their team and the campus community.

The nomination narrative should feature specific examples that:

  • Illustrate how the individual demonstrates these values

  • Describe the overall impact of the nominee’s leadership on colleagues, their department, or the broader Penn State Greater Allegheny community

Describe the nominee’s qualities, accomplishments, and/or efforts that make them a worthy candidate for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Staff Leadership Award. Please include specific examples of how the nominee demonstrates leadership, supports the growth and success of others, and contributes to a positive and effective work environment.
