The ACE Program at Penn State Greater Allegheny is a federally funded TRIO Student Support Services program. ACE helps first-generation college students, students from low-income families, and students with disabilities succeed in college.
Our Mission
Our mission is to support academic success, increase student retention and graduation rates, and expand career opportunities for the students we serve.
Who Can Join?
Students must be U.S. citizens (or meet residency requirements) and meet at least one of the following:
- Be from a low-income household
- Be a first-generation college student (neither parent or guardian has a bachelor’s degree)
- Have a documented learning or physical disability
How to Apply
Completed ACE applications are reviewed by program staff. Eligible students will receive a welcome email and be added to the online Student Success by Design Canvas group, which provides access to the ACE textbook loan application and other resources.

- Tutoring — support in a variety of subjects
- ACE-Only Courses — specialized classes for ACE students
- Workshops — sessions on study skills, time management, and academic success
- Textbook Library — free access to course materials
- Career Planning — guidance on career exploration and professional goals
- Graduate School Support — assistance with applications and planning
- FAFSA Assistance — help completing financial aid forms
- Internship and Scholarship Searches — resources to find opportunities
Participation Expectations
- Stay active in the ACE Canvas group and program activities
- Meet with ACE staff at least once each semester (in person or virtual)
