Growing Older: A Community-Engaged Common Intellectual Experience at Penn State Greater Allegheny
This year, our All-Campus Day theme is "Growing Older." In collaboration with the Allegheny County Area Agency on Aging, we will explore the multifaceted aspects of aging in our society, focusing on what it means to grow older, the experiences of older adults in Pittsburgh, and how we can enhance their lives through community engagement and collaborative efforts.
Why Growing Older?
This initiative reflects our commitment to addressing the unique needs of our community. In 2020, over 20% of individuals in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Statistical Area were 65 years or older, ranking among the highest in the country. This population is expected to increase 21% by 2050. With the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area having a significant older adult population, our focus is on creating impactful solutions and fostering a deeper understanding of aging.
Highlights of All-Campus Day 2024:
