Dr. Erica Tachoir
Did you know that strong academic advising is the first key to student success? Ensuring that GA students have a clear pathway to qualify for their degree and can graduate in eight semesters is the focus of Dr. Erica Tachoir, Division of Undergraduate Studies Coordinator and Manager of Advising and Orientation.
As a first-generation college student, Dr. Tachoir credits much of her success to her academic adviser and faculty who helped her navigate her coursework and make the most of her college experience.
“They never let me give up and always reminded me of the long-term goals that I had set for myself. They pushed me to see myself as a scholar and take educational risks that benefitted me. When I walked across the stage at graduation, it was not just for myself but to say thank you for what they had done for me.”
Now, she sees her role as DUS Coordinator in much the same way.
“I have never forgotten what it was like to be that timid student who was unsure how I would succeed or how I would continue to pay for college. My job now is to give back to other students – helping them to navigate the early stages of their Penn State experience and set achievable goals for now and the future."
Be sure to schedule an appointment with Erica if you have questions about how to meet the entrance requirements for a particular degree or learn more about how to interpret your degree audit.

Final Exam Schedules - Available Now!
Final exam week for the Fall 2023 semester is scheduled for Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 15. Students can view their individual final exam schedule in LionPath. On your main Home Base page, you'll see a section for Final Exams.
Students who have three or more finals on the same day are considered to have an overload conflict. If you have an overload conflict or a time conflict between more than one of your finals, you should discuss this with your instructors as soon as possible to determine which exam can be taken at an alternate time. A student with an overload conflict can choose to take all exams as scheduled if they feel it is more beneficial. The final exam conflict period ends on Sunday, October 15, therefore any discussions and arrangements made with your instructors needs to be resolved by that deadline.
Because of the large number of shared courses and students possibly taking a course at another campus this semester, we highly recommend confirming exam dates with your instructors. If your course is not yet listed, please continue to check for the course to be added or consult with your instructor to determine if a final exam, paper, or project is being offered in your course, during finals week.
2024 Spring Semester Scheduling
Spring courses begin on January 8, 2023. If you have not yet scheduled your courses for Spring, it’s not too late. Please connect with your advisor to set up a meeting to schedule your classes before the Holidays as the semester begins right after the New Year. Anyone needing an advising appointment after the exam period may have to wait until the university reopens on Tuesday, January 2, 2023.
We have reached the point in the fall semester where all enrollment appointments have occurred, and all students are now able to schedule. Waiting to enroll will limit class availability, so don’t delay!
Withdrawal Deadline
Visit registrar.psu.edu for details!
The Withdrawal Deadline for full term classes will occur on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. ET. If you are unable to complete the semester and need to withdraw (note; a withdraw is for ALL classes, as the late drop period for a single course has passed), you should consult your advisor and financial aid, for any implications this might have. Only after you had these discussions should you consider a withdrawal from all courses.
