The first in a series of public forums focused on the University’s long-range Strategic Plan took place Jan. 23 at Penn State Greater Allegheny, and faculty, staff and students from across the University were able to participate in person or via livestream.
Panel member Lara Fowler, assistant director for outreach and engagement of the Institutes of Energy and the Environment, and senior lecturer at Penn State Law, asked the question, "How do we connect globally?" "We want to think from the local to the global and how what we do at Penn State will affect the entire globe," Fowler said.
The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost and the Office of Planning and Assessment are co-hosting the forums, which will continue through February and March. For more information, including a schedule of the upcoming forums, go to: strategicplan.psu.edu.
Penn State Greater Allegheny Advisory Board Member James Lawrence discussed the recycling industry, a field Lawrence has worked in for the past 40 years, and working with the University on issues such as storm water and reusable materials with Tom Richard, director of the Penn State Institutes for Energy and the Environment. The discussion on Jan. 23, 2017, was part of the University's first Strategic Planning forum, which focused on Stewarding our Planet's Resources.
