Campus Initiatives

At Penn State Greater Allegheny, we’re more than just a campus—we’re a place where innovation, access, and opportunity come together. Our campus initiatives connect students, faculty, staff, and community partners to create programs that build academic success, career readiness, and real-world learning. From digital fluency and sustainability to equity-focused projects and hands-on experiences, we’re helping students grow into confident, capable leaders.

Explore how we're making a greater impact on campus, in our community, and beyond.

The Digital Fluency Project

Digital fluency is at the heart of learning at Greater Allegheny campus. Our students use iPad to not only reduce textbook costs, but to think critically, solve problems, and communicate in new ways. As part of this effort, we’re also building a culture of AI exploration, helping students, staff, and faculty understand how artificial intelligence can enhance learning, creativity, productivity, and collaboration.

Growing Older

Growing Older is a long-term project led by Greater Allegheny campus that partners with local organizations and nonprofits to explore the experience of aging and its impact on McKeesport and the greater Pittsburgh region. Together, we’re studying how communities can better support older adults through education, connection, and care.

GA-Ready Program

The GA-Ready Program helps students prepare for what’s next both in their careers and in life. Through hands-on learning, professional development, and career-focused experiences, students gain real-world skills, build strong résumés, and make meaningful connections with employers and mentors.

Caring for students is part of who we are. We work to make sure everyone has access to basic needs. Programs such as the Lion’s Food Pantry, the Little Food Pantry, Grab & Go Stations, Pop-Up Markets, and the Share Meals app help support student well-being and success.
