Hepner's Twitter portraits featured in Wired Magazine

Lori Hepner, associate professor of integrative arts, had her work profiled recently in Wired magazine. Hepner photographs images produced by programming "eight spinning LEDs [to] flash based on the binary code of each character in a tweet" (Slobig, 2015). The Twitter portraits are part of a series Hepner calls "Status Symbols."

Penn State Day Open House October 17

Attend our Penn State Day Open House on Saturday, October 17 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and learn why Penn State is the university for you! Arrive early and take our 10:40 a.m. POP - Points of Pride - Tour, or arrive in time for our 11:00 a.m. admissions overview session. Students who apply to Penn State during the open house will have their $50 application fee waived.

Greater Allegheny Alumni Society donates $1,200 to campus

At their annual alumni dinner on Thursday, October 1, the Penn State Greater Allegheny Alumni Society presented Interim Chancellor, Nancy L. Herron with a check for $1,200. The donation will be allocated for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Scholarship Fund. Alumni President David Pasternak thanked Dr. Herron for her support to the alumni society and to the campus. Past President's of the Alumni Society were also recognized at the event and several guests spoke about their personal experiences at the campus when they were students.

Community shows support for students through All That's Jazz Scholarship Benefit

 Penn State Greater Allegheny has received Premier sponsorships from two local organizations for the 12th annual All That's Jazz Scholarship Benefit. A $7,500 gift from Gala Jewelers along with the Rotary Club of White Oak's $10,000 will be added, with all of the other monies raised at the event, to the scholarship fund on campus. The total raised in the past 11 years is more than $825,000. 

Penn State and CCAC sign articulation agreement

Administrators from Penn State University and the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) have signed an articulation agreement to facilitate the transfer of CCAC students into baccalaureate programs at six Penn State campuses, including Beaver, DuBois, Fayette, Greater Allegheny, New Kensington, and Shenango. The agreement takes effect this fall.
