Jason Broadwater became the 4th head men's soccer coach in program history in January of 2020.

The 2022 season saw GA reach the conference semi-finals for the first time since 2018. Broadwater led a group that kept 4 clean sheets and conceded the fewest goals since 2018 while scoring the third most goals in a season.

2021 saw the team win the most regular season games in program history, score the most goals of any Greater Allegheny team, and make the post season for the first time since 2018.

Broadwater brings over eight years of coaching experience from youth, club, and high school levels throughout the Pittsburgh area to the position. Broadwater also served as the co-host of a successful soccer podcast entitled On the Touchline where he interviewed coaches, players, and influencers in the game of soccer from all over the world.

Coach Broadwater was named Interim Athletics Director in March 2023 after serving as Sports Information Coordinator for the Penn State Greater Allegheny Athletics department since August of 2021 where he coordinated a number of game day operations activities for all sports.

Broadwater has been praised for his player development philosophy and its holistic nature. “I am coaching our players to become better at soccer, but I am also helping coach them at the game of life. The Penn State Greater Allegheny Men’s Soccer team will be known for our focus, intensity, integrity, and perseverance in the classroom and on the pitch,” Coach Broadwater stated.

Before arriving at Penn State Greater Allegheny Broadwater was an assistant coach at Geibel Catholic High School in Connellsville, PA. There, he helped the team increase wins, goals scored, and coached the goalkeepers to their first clean sheet since 2014. He has also coached for Pittsburgh Hotspurs Soccer Club, Beadling Soccer Club, and Mount Pleasant Soccer Club, along with providing individual and small group training to players throughout the region.

Broadwater holds a United States Soccer Federation “D” license and United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Level 2 diploma, among other continuing coaching education certifications. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Bethany College in communication and master’s degree from West Virginia University in integrated marketing communication.

Jason, his wife, and their three children are residents of Mount Pleasant, PA.
