Solve It! A Creative Pitch Competition for High School Students Sponsored By Penn State Greater Allegheny and Covestro!

Penn State Greater Allegheny and Covestro Present: Solve It!

This is Solve It!

Solve It! is a creative problem solving competition for Pittsburgh area high school students sponsored by Penn State Greater Allegheny and Covestro.  The event will take place on the Penn State Greater Allegheny campus, March 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This is how it works!

Teams of three to four students develop a campaign pitch on a relevant and timely issue proposed by our industry partners at Covestro. The key to the "pitch" is understanding not only the problem, but also generating an actionable solution and convincing others to get behind your idea.

This is what we do!

Penn State Greater Allegheny faculty and our partners at Covestro have identified a challenge which needs an innovative and sustainable solution.  We have gathered background materials to help teams understand the problem.  On February 21, we will release the problem and informational materials simultaneously to all registered teams.  This will give each school the same amount of time to understand the problem and develop their solution and pitch.

Covestro is a materials company, but this is not a STEM challenge. There is no math or science prerequisite.  It takes all types of talent to develop the solutions for tomorrow.

This is what you do!

Gather your team of three or four students and get ready to show our panel of judges why you are up for a challenge and ready to be the creative and socially conscience leaders for tomorrow!

Your team will serve in the role of an independent contractor to a deliver a "Shark Tank-style" pitch to a panel of industry professionals from the global corporation, Covestro, WQED Film Academy, and academic partners from Penn State.  You will have four minutes to impress the judges with your dynamic and influential solution.  Be ready to answer questions from our judges!  Be confident, be convincing, be creative and you could be one of our cash prize winners!

Are you ready to Solve It?

Registration is closed for this year.  Best of luck to the seven teams competing this year!

We Are ready to help you!

When we release the problem, you will have access to mentors who can encourage you and answer questions you may have.  You will have until March 23 to design your presentation and on March 24, you will come to Penn State Greater Allegheny ready to Solve It!
