Penn State Greater Allegheny will present Celebrating the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center on the campus of Penn State Greater Allegheny.
Penn State Greater Allegheny will be celebrating the life, accomplishments, and legacy of Dr. King Jr. through song, and the spoken word. The campus will remember this vital figure of the modern era whose lectures and dialogues stirred the concern and sparked the conscience of a generation. The campus will celebrate his charismatic leadership that inspired men and women, young and old, in this nation and around the world.
The Bethlehem Baptist Choir, under the direction of the Minister of Music Harold Jefferson will participate in ?A Celebration In Song?. Winners of the first annual Penn State Greater Allegheny Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest will read their works. The video of Dr. King?s ?I Have a Dream? speech will be presented and the program will end with an address by Terrell Jones D.Ed., Vice Provost for Educational Equity at Penn State University who will speak on ?The Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ?
The program begins at 7:00 p.m. on January 20, 2009 in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 412-675-9180.
