Admissions FAQ

1. How can I arrange a visit to Penn State Greater Allegheny?

Visiting our campus is highly recommended either before or after submitting your admission application. During your visit, you'll receive a guided tour of our 52-acre campus led by a student Lion Ambassador. Our admissions counselors will also provide a comprehensive overview of the application process, and our student aid counselors can address any questions regarding financing your education. For more information and to schedule a visit, please visit our Campus Visits page.

2. When should I apply to Penn State Greater Allegheny?

For first-year applicants, we recommend submitting your application by November 1st to receive full consideration. Applications received after this date will be evaluated on a rolling basis. Transfer applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible before the desired semester start due to the transfer credit evaluation process. Applying early ensures ample time for processing before the semester begins.

3. How do I apply to Penn State Greater Allegheny?

To apply, create a MyPennState account on our Undergraduate Admissions page. Be sure to indicate Penn State Greater Allegheny as your first or second choice campus location. Complete the application and ensure all required documents, including high school transcripts and test scores, are submitted.

4. How will I be notified of Penn State Greater Allegheny's admission decision?

Admission decisions are communicated via mail, and you can also check your "My Penn State" account online for updates on your application status.

5. What is Penn State Greater Allegheny's 2+2 Plan?

Our 2+2 Plan allows students to begin their education at Penn State Greater Allegheny and then transition seamlessly to another Penn State location to complete their degree. This flexible option enables students to explore different campuses while earning a Penn State degree.

6. Are there different admission requirements for out-of-state students?

No, all applicants are evaluated based on the same criteria regardless of their residency status.

7. When do I need to "transfer" to Penn State University Park or another campus?

At Penn State, all campuses are equal, and we encourage students to choose the campus that best fits their academic and personal goals. Under the 2+2 Plan, students declare a major and select their campus for the final two years of their degree program during their second year of study.

8. Can I complete my entire degree at Penn State Greater Allegheny?

While most students complete the first two years of their degree at Penn State Greater Allegheny, we also offer several bachelor's degrees that can be completed entirely on our campus. For specific degree options, please visit our Academics page.
