Congratulations on your admission to Penn State. This is an exciting step as you prepare to begin your college journey. Below is a guide to help you complete your next steps and prepare for your first semester.
Accept Your Offer
Accept your offer of admission by logging into your MyPennState account or by visiting the Finance Office on campus to submit your acceptance fee.
- Acceptance fee: $230
- Housing deposit: $100 (for students planning to live on campus) and sign your housing contract.
- Choose from three meal plan levels. Students living on campus have a meal plan included in their Housing and Food Service Contract. Off-campus students may also purchase a meal plan.

Attend an Admitted Student Event
You and your family are invited to attend one of our Admitted Student Events. These programs are designed to answer your questions and help you understand what to expect between now and the start of the semester.
Apply for Financial Aid
Visit the financial aid section of our website for detailed information about applying for and accepting your aid package.
- Complete the FAFSA to apply for federal student aid.
- Explore scholarship opportunities on our Scholarships page.
- In early August, your electronic bill (eBill) will be sent to your official Penn State email. You can view and pay your bill through LionPATH. Be sure to sign your Financial Responsibility Statement to finalize registration.
Attend New Student Orientation (NSO)
First-year students are required to attend NSO. You will receive details by email with instructions and next steps.
- Submit proof of immunizations before arriving on campus. Log in to myUHS using your Penn State credentials to upload records. Visit the immunization submission page for more information.
- Complete the Penn State Safe & Aware online module covering alcohol education and relationship and sexual violence awareness at safeaware.psu.edu.
- All students receive an iPad through our Digital Fluency Project, providing access to digital tools that support academic success. Students are also eligible for free and discounted software at software.psu.edu.
Review the Academic Calendar
Stay informed about important dates including the first day of classes, breaks, and holidays by reviewing the academic calendar.
Purchase Textbooks and Spirit Wear
Purchase textbooks and Penn State spirit wear at the Penn State Bookstore, located in the Student Community Center.
