High School Dual Enrollment

Discover the opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credits at Penn State Greater Allegheny through our Dual Enrollment program. Take advantage of discounted tuition rates and get a head start on your college career.

Eligibility

High school juniors and seniors are eligible to participate in the Dual Enrollment program at Penn State Greater Allegheny. To qualify:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Exceptions may be considered for exceptional students who do not meet the GPA requirement.

Please note: Students who have already graduated from high school are not eligible for this program.

How to Apply

  1. View the list of approved dual enrollment courses available for the upcoming semester.
  2. Contact your school's counselor to receive a copy of your high school transcript.
  3. Submit the Penn State Nondegree High School Enrollment and Supplemental Form along with your high school transcript to Penn State Greater Allegheny Office of Admissions and Student Aid at [email protected]. Please indicate the class(es) you want to take.

Academic Performance

  • High school seniors can enroll in up to 8 credits per semester, starting from the summer before their senior year.
  • High school juniors may enroll in one 3- or 4-credit course per semester. Approval is required for enrollment in more than one course.
  • Maintain a minimum grade of C in each course to remain in the program.

Transferable Credits

Credits earned through Penn State Greater Allegheny’s Dual Enrollment program are fully transferable within the Penn State system and to other institutions, similar to regular Penn State credits.

Cost and Financial Aid

  • Participants receive a 50% Penn State grant-in-aid towards tuition costs. The Student Initiated Fee is applied on a per-credit basis.
  • Additional financial assistance may be available to students from school districts with grants or other funding.
