Doctors Without Borders to speak on campus

Attend a discussion by a representative of Doctors Without Borders, the Nobel-Prize winning organization that has done great work in Africa and elsewhere. Our speaker, Sharon Connor, is a pharmacist who negotiated access to medicines for people in need in Ethiopia and Kenya. She will speak from 12:15 to 1:30 on TUESDAY, APRIL 5, in the Ostermayer Room of the SCC.

Africa Day events planned

On March 31 there will be a series of events in celebration of Africa Day and in conjunction with Teaching Africa. The Pittsburgh Dance Ensemble will present an African dance and drumming workshop in the Ostermayer Room of the Student Community Center at 12:15 pm. The presentation will include a discussion of Aftican cultures as well as demonstrations of elements of dance and drumming. At 7 pm the group will perform in the dining area of the SCC.

Speaker opens Teaching Africa lecture series

On Tuesday February 15, Dr. Jean-Jacques Séne, history professor at LaRoche College, was the opening speaker for Teaching Africa. Dr. Séne spoke on "History, Culture and Current Issues in Senegal and Western Africa."
