Certified Recovery Specialist and Certified Family Recovery Specialist

Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS)

An individual with personal experience in their own substance use and subsequent recovery. By sharing insights gained from their journey, Recovery Specialists provide a unique perspective to those facing similar challenges. They serve as role models to reduce stigma, eliminate barriers, and build community by advocating for individuals, the recovery system, and recovery-oriented services.

Certified Family Recovery Specialist (CFRS)

A credential for adults directly impacted by a family member's or loved one’s substance use disorder. CFRSs share their lived experiences with other families to provide recovery support services, understanding the stigma associated with substance use disorder and its impact on families. CFRSs are trained to help families navigate the recovery process and support them throughout their journey.
