An Evening of Excellence—Student Awards Banquet Celebration

You are invited to join us for An Evening of Excellence at Penn State Greater Allegheny. This campus-wide celebration recognizes outstanding student achievement and brings together students, faculty, staff, family, and friends for a night of community, inspiration, and Penn State pride.

We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments and the impact you’ve made across campus.

Guests are encouraged to arrive a few minutes early to be seated. This event is open to students, faculty, staff, family, and friends.


Student Awards—Categories and Criteria

Membership is awarded to students actively pursuing a degree at Penn State, having completed at least three full-time terms, maintaining a grade point average of 3.2 or higher, and coming from families where neither parent holds a bachelor's degree. Transfer students are required to complete at least one term at Penn State prior to induction.

Note: The induction ceremony for this honor society occurs prior to An Evening of Excellence. New inductees will be recognized as a group at An Evening of Excellence.

This award is not selected through the nomination process. Recipients are determined based on academic achievement, eligibility requirements, or institutional selection criteria. Not all awards or disciplines may be represented each year depending on student eligibility and qualifications.

Membership is open to undergraduate students who have completed a minimum number of criminal justice courses and who demonstrate strong academic achievement. Eligible students are typically required to maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 3.2, a criminal justice grade point average of 3.2 or higher, and rank in the upper portion of their class in academic standing with a demonstrated commitment to the discipline. Members are inducted annually.

Note: The induction ceremony for this honor society occurs prior to An Evening of Excellence. New inductees will be recognized as a group at An Evening of Excellence.

This award is not selected through the nomination process. Recipients are determined based on academic achievement, eligibility requirements, or institutional selection criteria. Not all awards or disciplines may be represented each year depending on student eligibility and qualifications.

Membership is open to undergraduate students who rank in the upper 35 percent of their class in general scholarship, earn an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and earn a psychology grade point average of at least 3.0. Members are inducted annually.

This award is not selected through the nomination process. Recipients are determined based on academic achievement, eligibility requirements, or institutional selection criteria. Not all awards or disciplines may be represented each year depending on student eligibility and qualifications.

Membership is open to undergraduate students enrolled in a business, management, or administration program, have completed at least half of their degree program, rank in the top 20 percent of your class, and receive an official faculty invitation.

This award is not selected through the nomination process. Recipients are determined based on academic achievement, eligibility requirements, or institutional selection criteria. Not all awards or disciplines may be represented each year depending on student eligibility and qualifications.

During An Evening of Excellence, Greater Allegheny campus will recognize first-place project winners from the Fall and Spring Research and Creativity Conferences. These students are honored for their outstanding research, scholarship, creativity, and academic achievement across a variety of disciplines.

Eligible finalists will have completed a minimum of 45 credits by the end of the fall semester, be enrolled as a full-time student in the spring semester, be at least in their fourth semester of study, have completed at least 36 of their last 48 credits at Penn State, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher, be making satisfactory academic progress in their program of study, have used no more than 8 late drop credits, and have no record of academic integrity violations appearing on their academic transcript.

This award is presented to a member of the Student Government Association that exemplifies the mission and purpose of the organization. The member has gone above and beyond in their commitment to advocating for the student body at Greater Allegheny campus.

Student Awards Nomination Form

This award is presented to a first-year student who has served his or her organization in an unassuming and quiet manner. This award is for a student who has not yet held a leadership role, but through a commitment of time and energy, this student has made an impact on the organization and the campus community.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

This award is presented to a second-year student who has demonstrated leadership potential and active engagement in campus life. The recipient of this award exemplifies initiative, growth, and a commitment to contributing positively to Greater Allegheny campus.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

This award is presented to a student who is especially dedicated to the student affairs mission and co-curricular experience. The recipient is passionate about campus activities and has made outstanding contributions to campus-wide co-curricular programs and demonstrates high-quality leadership and organizational ability in helping plan and present programs.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

This award is presented to a male and female student-athlete who have demonstrated exceptional athletic performance, leadership, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the academic year. These individuals not only excel in their sports, but also serve as role models for their teammates, contribute positively to campus life, and embody the values of perseverance, integrity, legacy, and pride that define Greater Allegheny campus athletics.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

The EPIC Awards, created by The ACE Program (TRIO Student Support Services) and the John H. Gruskin Student Success Center, recognize first-generation college students and/or students of color whose work in the classroom, campus community, and local community advance the values of Penn State. 

This award is presented to three students whose leadership and service exemplifies a combination of the Penn State values of integrity, respect, responsibility, discovery, excellence, and community.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

The EPIC Awards, created by The ACE Program (TRIO Student Support Services) and the John H. Gruskin Student Success Center, recognize first-generation college students and/or students of color whose work in the classroom, campus community, and local community advance the values of Penn State. 

This award is presented to a student who has engaged in undergraduate research opportunities that contribute to an existing body of knowledge, and fostered creativity and innovation, for the benefit of our communities, our society, and the environment.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

The EPIC Awards, created by The ACE Program (TRIO Student Support Services) and the John H. Gruskin Student Success Center, recognize first-generation college students and/or students of color whose work in the classroom, campus community, and local community advance the values of Penn State. 

This award is presented to a student who has made valuable contributions in the areas of service and volunteerism, serving as a positive role model, and has boosted courage, spirit, and hope in other individuals.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

This award is presented annually to those undergraduate degree candidates who have earned a 4.0 (A) cumulative grade point average based on at least 36 graded credits completed by the end of the fall semester of the academic year in which the award is given.

This award is not selected through the nomination process. Recipients are determined based on academic achievement, eligibility requirements, or institutional selection criteria. Not all awards or disciplines may be represented each year depending on student eligibility and qualifications.

This award is presented annually to undegraduate degree candidates and degree-seeking provisional students who have earned a 4.0 cumulative grade point average based on at least 12 graded Penn State credits completed in their first-semester of admission. Candidates are eligible for this award if they have fewer than 36 Penn State credits earned.

This award is not selected through the nomination process. Recipients are determined based on academic achievement, eligibility requirements, or institutional selection criteria. Not all awards or disciplines may be represented each year depending on student eligibility and qualifications.

This award recognizes undergraduate students enrolled at the Commonwealth Campus locations whose outstanding qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and citizenship have been directed into programs and services that have positively influenced fellow students, and have contributed to the prestige and well-being of their campus and, hence, to the reputation of the University as a whole.

This award requires a submitted nomination for consideration. Eligible students must be nominated during the official nomination period to be reviewed for selection.

Student Awards Nomination Form

This award is presented annually to fall graduates and spring/summer degree candidates achieving a cumulative grade point average of 3.60 or higher, and who have completed at least 36 credits entirely at Greater Allegheny campus.

This award is not selected through the nomination process. Recipients are determined based on academic achievement, eligibility requirements, or institutional selection criteria. Not all awards or disciplines may be represented each year depending on student eligibility and qualifications.
