John H. Gruskin Student Success Center

All services are free for Penn State Greater Allegheny students.

Located on the lower level of the J. Clarence Kelly Library, the John H. Gruskin Student Success Center supports students through free tutoring and academic support services.

Tutors help students strengthen skills, prepare for exams, and improve academic performance across many subjects.

Tutoring Services

Professional tutors, peer tutors, and faculty provide support in many subject areas. Tutor schedules are posted in the Student Success Center.

Academic Support Services

The Student Success Center offers support in a variety of subjects, including:

  • Math: Algebra, Calculus, Statistics
  • Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics
  • Languages and Writing: English, Spanish, French
  • Social Sciences: Psychology, Sociology
  • Business and Technology: Economics, Criminal Justice, CAS 100

Writing support is available for papers in any subject area. Appointments are encouraged but not required.

Workshops

The center offers workshops to help students strengthen academic skills.

  • Algebra Workshops: Review foundational math skills needed for higher-level courses.
  • Study Skills Workshops: Build learning strategies through guided or self-paced sessions.

Writing Support

Tutors provide feedback on writing assignments for any course. Specialized support is also available for Social Work program papers.

Extra Credit Opportunities

Some instructors offer extra credit for attending workshops. Check your course syllabus or ask your instructor for details.
