Teaching Learning Methods

The Penn State paramedic students will be taught in a student-centered learning environment. This may include but is not limited to: completing the interactive lectures and assigned readings and quizzes, critical thinking activities, paramedic portfolio lab. Students will develop the skills necessary to critically think and process information and to apply the knowledge to treat sick patients in the lab, clinical/field, and capstone settings.

  • Students must come to class prepare to interact and ask questions
  • Labs are designed to reinforce and clarify the information obtained from the students from the interactive lectures, electronic readings, and pre-course assignments. This allows the students to gain the knowledge and skills to successfully complete the course and become an entry competent paramedic in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.

Interactive Lecture Overview:

Navigate Interactive Course Lectures cover the entire scope of the National EMS Education Standards and promote student engagement and retention. Using instructional design best practices, these fully narrated lectures provide critical topic review based on key learning objectives presented in online modules that students explore at their own pace. Navigate Interactive Course Lectures enhance comprehension, improve concept retention, and prepare students for more advanced activities.
