Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training

Financial Policy

Course Tuition: Tuition and course fees are required to be paid upon registration. Payment plan options are available for AEMT and Paramedic courses only. Please review the program webpages for detail.

Refund Policy: The refund policy only applies to students that have registered for any EMS Course and has paid the tuition in full.

EMR and EMT students can receive 100% refund if they withdraw prior to the first scheduled class. From the start of the course through the first 12 hours of the course, a student may withdraw and receive a 50% refund. No refund will be issued after this point.


 

EMS Training Classes

This training program is designed to equip first responders with essential knowledge about current substances of use, their pharmacological properties, effects on the body, and appropriate response strategies. The goal is to enhance your ability to recognize, manage, and provide appropriate care in cases of substance-related emergencies.

Register for Substance Use Disorder

Course approved for three con ed units by the PA Department of Health

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Renewal of Paramedics, R.N.s and Physicians according to ACLS standards as promulgated by the American Heart Association.

Pre-registration is required.

Dates: December 17, 2024
Register for ACLS Refresher

Call 724-430-4217 prior to first class for information on completing the pre-test required by the American Heart Association.

Course Fee: $100.00

This course provides a basic foundation in pre-hospital emergency medical services care, as per procedures developed by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Prerequisites are:
A. Must be 16 years of age or older.
B. Prioritized Department of Health selection process enforced.

The program will be a minimum of 180 hours with combined lecture and practical skill sessions. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible for certification from the NREMT and the PA Dept. of health as an EMT.

September 2 through December 9, 2025
Mandatory Zoom orientation on August 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Hybrid learning with in-person skills sessions typically Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Penn State Fayette, 5 Eberly Building

For Healthcare Professionals

Course Description

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. The BLS for healthcare providers course incorporates the entire body of information and skills presented in the adulty heartsaver and PBLS programs (Modules 1 and 2). It also includes two-rescuer CPR (Module 3) and barrier devises (Module 4). It is highly recommended that health care providers be trained in the use of an AED (Module 5). Final Authorization to perform defibrillation, however, is a function of the logical legislative health authorities. It is anticipated in the future AED training will be required skill for BLS for healthcare providers course. Written and practical eval are required.

Course Description

Basic Cardiac Life Support (cpr) Heartsaver will serve as the lay rescuer program designed to address primary prevention, heart attack symptom recognition, and sudden cardiac death in the adult (module 1). This program will provide a convenient and efficient option for family members and friends of adult patients at high-risk, school personnel, students, workers, and members of the general public. Barrier devises can also be accommodated in this program. Written and practical examinations are no longer required, but student evaluations can serve an important educational function when used as reinforement exercises.
