Fifteen Penn State faculty members have been honored with the title of "distinguished professor" in recognition of their academic contributions to the University.
Prize winners have been announced for Penn State's annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation Days. The event, which ran from Nov. 16 to Dec. 9, featured many chances to win prizes, including the grand prize of a Pittsburgh Steelers game-day package.
Penn State Greater Allegheny’s fall 2016 commencement was held at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 in the Ostermayer Room in the Student Community Center on campus. Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer Andrew Egan presided. Jay Breckenridge, professor emeritus of theatre arts, was the commencement speaker.
Margaret Power visited Penn State Greater Allegheny as part of the Teaching International Speaker Series. The title of her talk was “Eleanor Roosevelt and Human Rights: From Norvelt, PA to the United Nations.” Power’s presentation came just a few days before the United Nation’s annual Human Rights Day.

At Penn State Greater Allegheny, Instructor in Environmental Engineering Alandra Kahl’s students in her Energy and the Environment (EGEE 101) course recently built and tested solar ovens. Solar ovens are used around the world in developing areas as a cheap and efficient way to cook food.
A 12-foot by 12-foot piece of the AIDS Memorial quilt will be on display Nov. 28-Dec. 2 in the concourse of the Penn State Greater Allegheny Student Community Center, to commemorate World AIDS Day.
