Penn State Greater Allegheny announces spring commencement

Penn State Greater Allegheny's spring 2014 commencement will be held on Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. in the Wunderley Gymnasium on campus. Interim Chancellor Nancy Herron will preside as diplomas are conferred to students receiving baccalaureate and associate degrees. City of Pittsburgh Councilwoman and Finance and Law Committee Chair Natalia Rudiak will be the keynote speaker.

Greater Allegheny to offer four year degree in Administration of Justice

Penn State Greater Allegheny will offer a new four-year degree program in Administration of Justice, with classes beginning summer 2014. The major is intended for students interested in pursuing careers in criminal justice, either immediately after obtaining the baccalaureate degree, or after graduate school. Students can complete either a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.

Nursing Home Administrator training being offered at Greater Allegheny

Penn State Greater Allegheny is offering Nursing Home Administrator training. The campus has been registered and approved as a training institution by the Department of Public Welfare for purposes of Chapter 2600. Its 120-hour, standardized, department-approved curriculum for nursing home administrators provides the core program required for individuals interested in receiving licensure. In addition, the courses can satisfy PA State Nurses Association Contact Hours.

Herron comes home to serve as interim chancellor at Penn State Greater Allegheny

Nancy Herron, associate vice president and senior associate dean for Commonwealth Campuses emeritus, is serving as interim chancellor of Penn State Greater Allegheny. Her appointment began Jan. 1. It has been 14 years since Herron last called the campus home. She said, "Despite Thomas Wolfe's message in his 1940s posthumous novel, 'You Can't Go Home Again,' the truth is, you really can."
