The Internship Legal Learning Agreement is a required document that makes sure your internship meets academic, professional, and safety standards. It’s an agreement between you, your employer (host site), and Penn State Greater Allegheny.
Why do I need this?
This form ensures everyone understands your responsibilities, your learning goals, and how your internship connects to your degree. It also protects your rights as a student and intern.
What’s included?
Internship start and end dates
Your supervisor’s name and contact info
A description of your duties
Learning objectives that connect your internship to your major
How you’ll be evaluated
Required approvals and signatures
How do I complete it?
Take the Internship Prep Course – usually in your 4th or 5th semester.
Meet with your advisor or internship coordinator to talk about your goals.
Submit your online Internship Learning Agreement (you’ll receive a link).
Get your agreement reviewed and signed by your advisor and host site supervisor.
Wait for final approval — once approved, your internship will appear in LionPATH and Canvas.
What if I’m not sure how to write learning objectives?
That’s okay — your advisor will help you. Learning objectives should focus on what you want to learn and how it connects to your major. Think about skills you want to build and how your internship will help you apply what you’ve learned in class.
