G.A.M.E (Giving Adolescents Meaningful Experiences)

Overview 

Formerly known as Project Game, G.A.M.E operates as a "Hybrid Mentoring" program that goes beyond traditional mentorship by integrating pedagogical strategies and Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDESAS) learning standards into its sessions. This approach, known as "Real-life" pedagogy, ensures highly engaging sessions where participants can easily connect with the content. The program focuses on creating a student-centered experience that fosters personal growth and investment.

Program Offerings

G.A.M.E draws from a variety of resources to support participants across multiple areas:

  • Mental Health Sessions (DBT): Providing support through Dialectical Behavior Therapy sessions.
  • Legal Counseling: Offering guidance on legal matters relevant to participants' needs.
  • Post-Secondary Education and Trade School: Assisting with planning and preparation for higher education and vocational training.
  • ACT/SAT Prep: Providing resources and support for standardized test preparation.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Developing essential communication and relational abilities.
  • Long-term Goal Planning (S.M.A.R.T. Goals): Helping participants set and achieve specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound goals.

Success and Partnerships

G.A.M.E has achieved significant success collaborating with various entities, including all six Community Intensive Supervision Program (CISP) locations and local high schools in Allegheny County, such as Westinghouse High School and McKeesport High School.

Diagnostic Personality Assessment (True Colors)

Participants undergo a comprehensive True Colors assessment to identify:

  • Strengths and Weaknesses: Recognizing individual strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Stressors and Self-esteem: Understanding stress triggers and building self-esteem.
  • Career Matches and Attributes: Exploring career paths aligned with participants' personalities and attributes.
  • Learning Style: Identifying the optimal learning approach for each participant.

Campus Visits and Character-building Experiences

G.A.M.E extends its resources by inviting groups to visit campus for planned activities and character-building experiences, enriching participants' educational journeys.
