MCKEESPORT, Pa – Thirteen families from the Mon Valley region were guests at Penn State Greater Allegheny's Street Team Jolly Holiday Party. The party was held at the Mon Valley Launchbox located in the heart of McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
During the event, families had a chance to create, make, and build their own festive cookies, hot chocolate mugs and holiday snow globes while enjoying pizza and taking photos with the Nittany Lion.
“This event puts a lot of smiles on many families' faces,” said Mylisha Burns, street team member. “We enjoyed seeing children participate in the activities and making friends with other children.”
Penn State Greater Allegheny’s Street Team has played an integral part in the community for the past three years. The team actively contributes to the Mon Valley Launchbox, an incubator for local businesses, provides Thanksgiving dinners to those in the community and much more. The team is comprised of Siobhan Brooks, Erica Willis, Mylisha Burns, Aaron Whigham, Johnathan White, Jacqueline Edmondson, Eric Ewell, and Erica Tachoir.
Student Sabrina Yushinski attended the event as a member of the Rotaract and Entrepreneurship Club, and helped guests create their snow globes.
“I had a lot of fun helping make snow globes,” said Yushinski. “The children enjoyed themselves a lot.”
At the conclusion of the event, children received presents delivered by the Nittany Lion. Collectively, Greater Allegheny’s administrative staff teamed up to provide 30 gifts for children in the community.
