Overview
Are you interested in understanding how the world works? Do you enjoy solving problems and exploring interconnected systems? If so, SECURE is for you.
Who can participate?
Anyone! Regardless of your background, GPA, or class standing, if you're keen on conducting research as an undergraduate, you can join SECURE.
What will I do as part of the SECURE?
In SECURE, students collaborate to investigate interdisciplinary questions at the intersection of biology, chemistry, and engineering. Together, we explore our evolving world through scientific and engineering lenses.
Course Requirements:
SECURE lab members are expected to dedicate 3 hours per week to research activities and attend weekly lab meetings. These meetings serve as a platform for progress reports, troubleshooting sessions, and literature discussions. In the lab, students learn practical experimental and design techniques, applying them to solve novel problems.
What advantages does SECURE offer?
Joining SECURE provides hands-on experience in scientific and engineering practices, enhancing your resume and professional school applications. Benefits include:
- Working within interdisciplinary teams to conduct hypothesis-driven research.
- Presenting scientific findings effectively.
- Gaining proficiency in marketable laboratory techniques used globally.
- Access to funding opportunities from the Schreyer Honors College, Multi-Campus Research Experience for Undergraduates summer program, and Student Engagement Network to support and recognize your research.
