Social Justice and Community Engagement

Think about this theme for future jobs in nonprofit management, community and economic development, public safety, historic preservation, activism, public policy. and even post-graduate studies that could take you to law school.

Contemporary Storytelling

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to create and explore various forms of communications and writing with mass audiences or even with a targeted group of like readers, listeners and viewers?  Is there an issue for which you want to advocate through multimedia, nonfiction publishing, or even as a community advocate and speaker? A Contemporary Storytelling pathway will allow you to engage with a variety of courses and real-life options to build a portfolio of experiences that can be transferrable to individualized careers, for example, as a public historian, free-lance writer, author, artist, community historian, ad agency executive, digital influencer, or even a journalist. Your Greater Allegheny transcript might eventually include courses in English and creative writing, intercultural studies, music, media production, photography, graphic design, IST, data analytics, news writing, communications theory, and even public relations and business writing. This direction could be the ideal preparation to guide you to be part of the ever-changing, ever-connecting interactive global world of digital storytelling and communications.
