New students gear up for PokeParty at orientation

Incoming students at Penn State Greater Allegheny will have a unique experience as part of their orientation — a PokeParty! From 1-3 p.m. Aug. 19, incoming students will gather for a Lure Happy Hour, where lures will be placed at all nine PokeStops on campus.

New students, those in University housing must submit immunization records

Students who are new to Penn State and all students living in University housing are reminded that they must submit their immunization records using myUHS through a new three-step process. As part of this process, students who do not submit their immunization records prior to Sept. 15 will be unable to register for spring 2017 classes.

Teachers learn math as a second language at Pa. Mathematics Initiative workshop

Penn State Greater Allegheny is hosting a weeklong series of Pennsylvania Mathematics Initiative (PMI) workshops this week. The Pennsylvania Mathematics Initiative is designed to help elementary school teachers deepen their content knowledge to facilitate their incorporation of the newly implemented Common Core State Standards. Beth Lindsey, associate professor of physics, and Kuei-Nuan Lin, assistant professor of mathematics, are hosting the workshops, with the theme of “Math as a Second Language.”
