About the Program
Ready to accelerate your career in health? This pathway allows you to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health and a Master of Public Health in just five years. You’ll combine a strong foundation in health science with advanced public health training, while benefiting from small class sizes and personalized faculty support at Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Graduates of this accelerated pathway are prepared for careers such as:
- Public or community health specialist
- Epidemiologist or biostatistics analyst
- Health educator or health promotion specialist
- Health systems or policy professional
- Public health or biomedical researcher
- Professional roles in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries
Graduates may also continue their education in medical school, physician assistant programs, or advanced public health graduate programs.
What You Can Expect
Students begin building a foundation in health sciences at Penn State Greater Allegheny and transition into graduate-level coursework through Penn State’s College of Medicine and online learning options.
- Years 1–3: Complete core Biobehavioral Health coursework at Greater Allegheny.
- Year 4: Begin graduate-level courses, offered in person and virtually through the College of Medicine.
- Year 5: Complete the Master of Public Health degree in person, online, or through Penn State World Campus (Global Health option).
Throughout the program, you will develop expertise in:
- Community and behavioral health
- Epidemiology and biostatistics
- Global health
- Health policy, systems, and management
- Public health research and data analysis
Program Requirements
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25
- Master of Public Health requires 42 credits; up to 15 credits may count toward the bachelor’s degree
- Graduate-level coursework begins during the senior year
- M.P.H. specialization options:
- Community and Behavioral Health
- Epidemiology and Biostatistics
- Global Health
Application Information
Third-year Biobehavioral Health students may apply to the Accelerated Master of Public Health program. Applications must be submitted by February 15.
